Roxburgh Area School holds many in-school sporting events throughout the year, and facilitates the participation of students in a wide range of sports within the Central Otago region as part of school-based and extra-curricular sports activities.
Students from New Entrants to Year 13 are involved in school-wide sporting events including swimming, athletics, triathlon and cross country, where teams and individuals compete for championship placings along with House points. These events serve as qualifiers for further competition in regional and national events.
Netball, rugby, basketball, volleyball and touch rugby are all offered as team sports. Our students are presented with many opportunities to try new sports and activities through in-school coaching and regional-based competitions.
A highlight for our senior students is the annual Southern Area Schools Tournament, where students play a wide range of sports against students from other Area Schools, and can gain selection to compete at National Area School level.
